Starting a new project? Contact 811 BEFORE you dig. There are miles of pipelines, wires and cables for critical services underground. Damaging these lines could result in large utility outages, expensive repair costs, and could cause injury or even death. If you plan to dig anywhere, from home projects to large construction jobs (even as shallow as six inches), you must contact 811 before you dig.
Ready to start safe digging? Visit www.co811.org and request a locate through iDig811 or call 811 at least three days before you plan to dig. If you have an emergency locate always CALL 811!
Tip! Pre-mark your dig area with white paint or white flags to ensure the locators do not miss your project’s dig area. PAWSD will send out our locator to mark our utilities within the dig area up to the customer’s property line. Utilities in your yard will NOT be located by PAWSD, but Colorado 811 has you covered. Contact www.co811.com to search the Private Locate Company Directory for locates on your property.
Tip! Once your utilities are located, steer clear of digging within 18 inches of the marks to avoid costly and dangerous accidents. If you have to dig within 18 inches of the utility locate, you are required to dig by hand in order to avoid damaging the underground utility.
